Sir John A. Macdonald
The City of Victoria recently decided to remove a statue of Sir John A. Macdonald from outside their City hall.
This is just another example of political correctness run amok.
We cannot allow this to erase our history.
And Canadians agree!
According to a recent poll, 70% of Canadians believe that the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald should not be removed permanently from public view.
Erasing the past robs us of our ability to both acknowledge and learn from the mistakes of our historical figures – while also celebrating their significant achievements.
If we look back on our history and only see the blemishes, we miss out on a beautiful story of a country that has achieved great things.
Erasing our history serves no one, especially the next generation of Canadians.
