Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on la Fête nationale du Québec:

“Today, Conservatives join millions of Quebecers in celebrating their history, culture, and language on la Fête nationale du Québec.

“For generations, Quebec has stood apart through the strength of its national identity and the deep commitment of its people to the French language.

“From the streets of Montreal to the Saguenay Fjord, from the St. Lawrence Valley to the historic fortifications of Quebec City, Quebecers continue to carry forward a rich and vibrant heritage rooted in more than 400 years of history.

“It is the story of the coureurs des bois, the first settlers who cleared the land, the merchants who established trading posts, and the countless men and women whose hard work, courage, and determination helped build La Belle Province.

“On behalf of the Conservative Party of Canada, I would like to wish all Quebecers a happy Fête nationale. I hope you enjoy this special occasion with family and friends as communities come together to celebrate all that makes Quebec unique. Enjoy the bonfires, fireworks, and beloved Quebec songs that make us proud and remind us of the rich heritage we share.

“Happy Fête nationale!”
