Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, will travel to Detroit on Tuesday to fight for tariff-free trade with the United States to save Canadians money and protect Canadian jobs.

“Conservatives are fighting to save you money, save Canadian jobs and put Canada first,” said Poilievre. “That means standing up for the workers who build our cars, produce our steel and aluminum, and supply our lumber. Their livelihoods must be at the heart of any trade deal.”

In Detroit, Poilievre plans to meet with American business leaders and speak directly to the American people through media interviews. He will press for the removal of tariffs and a deal that protects Canadian workers while delivering benefits on both sides of the border. He will also push for his “Tariff-Free Auto Pact” to protect Canadian auto jobs.

“My message to Americans is simple: these tariffs drive up costs and put jobs at risk in both our countries,” said Poilievre. “For decades, free trade has helped our workers build things together, sell to each other and bring home bigger paycheques. Let’s get tariffs out of the way so workers and businesses on both sides of the border can get ahead.”

Poilievre’s visit comes as Canadian and American workers face the impact of tariffs on industries that depend on trade across the border.

“Canadians are united in standing up for our country and the people who built it,” Poilievre concluded. “We need a Canada that is strong at home and respected abroad. I will fight for a deal that defends our interests, opens markets for Canadian goods and protects Canadian paycheques. Put Canada first. Bring home jobs. Save Canadians money.”
