Roger MacKay is a lifelong resident of Central Nova, a passionate community volunteer and a stalwart to his community.
Serving as Mayor of Westville since 2008 and through involvement with the Westville Town Council since 1994, Roger has gained a strong understanding of community needs while also showing a deep compassion for the people he serves. This sense of community also served him well in his 38 years employment with the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.
Roger has a reputation for being a hard worker, who genuinely cares about the people around him. Whether it’s through meeting residents as Mayor, his 18 years as a volunteer firefighter or playing pickup hockey when time permits, Roger likes to be on the ground, listening to real people.
Despite his many passions, Roger says his proudest achievement is being a father and a husband and is incredibly thankful for the support of his wife Jessie and his children, Brandon and Zachary.
Central Nova has grappled with government red tape, high taxes, a suffering healthcare system and low employment for too long. Roger knew it was time that he take the leap to the federal stage so he can help make a difference to the larger community.
