Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement on Sukkot:
“Thousands of years ago, the newly freed Israelites travelled through the Egyptian desert towards the promised land. For forty years beneath the Sinai sky, they called fragile shelters home.
“In remembrance of G-d’s protection during their journey, Jewish families in Canada and around the world will spend the next seven days celebrating Sukkot, building sukkahs and stepping outside the comforts of modern life to gather in prayer, share meals and give thanks.
“Sukkot teaches us that true security is found in faith, family and gratitude. Celebrated at the end of the harvest season, it is also an opportunity for Jews to thank G-d and reflect on life’s blessings.
“As we witness a troubling rise in antisemitism targeting Jewish communities across our Country, the story of Sukkot speaks to the incredible resilience of Jewish people.
“Conservatives will always stand with our Jewish communities. We remain committed to defending religious freedom, ensuring every Canadian can live and worship proudly without fear.
