Ottawa, ON – Dan Mazier, Conservative Shadow Minister for Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement, and Aaron Gunn, Conservative Shadow Minister for Ethics and Accountable Government, released the following statement on the $30 million in bonuses paid to Canada Post management:

“For generations, Canada Post has provided communities with the services that our families and businesses rely on.

“Recently, Canadians learned that the crown corporation awarded some $30.8 million in bonuses to its management staff. The news came just months after a $673 million bailout was approved by the federal government, on top of more than $2 billion in repayable funding provided by Ottawa since 2025.

“While Canada Post did not disclose further details about the payments, according to CTV they could average as high as $13,000 per awardee.

“This is not the first time that crown corporation bonuses have failed to match results. Earlier this month Conservatives called out the roughly $32 million in bonuses awarded by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation as Canadians face the worst housing affordability in the G7.

“As the Minister responsible for Canada Post, it is ultimately up to Joël Lightbound and the federal Liberal government to ensure Canadians have access to the postal services they depend on, while providing value for taxpayer dollars.

“Conservatives will always fight for accountable government that gives Canadians the services they need.”
