Petition: This is Canada’s Fight.
“When our friends and allies are attacked, when our values are threatened, when human rights are trampled, and human dignity is crushed, it is our fight.” – Rona Ambrose, February 7th, 2016
On October 22nd, 2014, an ISIS-inspired terrorist struck the heart of our nation’s capital, killing an unarmed ceremonial guard. Two days before, a similar attack occurred against two Canadian Armed Forces soldiers in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.
One Canadian was fortunate to only escape with injuries in the ISIS attack in Paris that resulted in the deaths of 130 people.
In January, a Canadian was a victim in a brutal attack by ISIS in Jakarta, and six more Canadians were killed in another terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.
This is not just another conflict. ISIS poses a threat to Canadians and our allies – directly, and brutally.
Our CF-18’s are an essential part of the international strategy to contain, degrade and defeat ISIS.
It isn’t easy sending our men and women in uniform into combat – and it shouldn't be. When Canada is attacked at home, and Canadians are attacked abroad, it is Canada’s fight. Canada must work continue to work with our allies – including leaving our CF-18’s in the joint bombing missions against ISIS.
