Who can join the Conservative Party of Canada?

To become a member of the Conservative Party of Canada one must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, support our Party’s founding principles, pay the required fee from their own personal funds, and not hold membership in another Canadian federal political party. Additionally, to join the Party one must be 14 years of age on the day they are purchasing a membership.

I am a Canadian citizen who lives abroad. Can I join the Conservative Party of Canada?

Yes. Canadian citizens or permanent residents living abroad can take a membership in the Party PROVIDED they have a Canadian mailing address.

Can I buy a Conservative Party of Canada membership for a family member?

Yes. Individuals can take out a membership on behalf of themselves, their spouse, and up to three minor aged children that live with them BUT ONLY IF the purchase is done at the same time and in one single transaction. Family members will still need to provide valid identification to become Party members in good standing. Any family members who do not live with the applicant individual will need to sign themselves up with payment methods in their own names (including adult children who live at home or are off at college).

How can I take out a Conservative Party of Canada membership if I do not have a credit card? Can I use a prepaid credit card?

Individuals can visit the Party’s Website, download a copy of the membership form and mail it to the Party’s National Headquarters. Individuals who chose to do so can return this form with a personal cheque made out to ‘Conservative Fund Canada’ to the address below:

No. The use of a prepaid credit card is not authorized for the purchase of a Party membership. The use of cash, a corporate credit card or a corporate cheque is also prohibited.

Can I buy a Conservative Party of Canada membership for a duration longer than one year?

Yes, you may purchase a membership for up to 5 years.

I donate to the Conservative Party of Canada regularly/make a monthly contribution. Does this automatically make me a member of the Party?

No, donors to the Conservative Party are not automatically members of the Party. Donors MUST purchase a membership to be members in good standing of the Party.

No. A member of a provincial conservative party MUST hold an active federal Conservative Party of Canada membership to be a member in good standing.

I have a membership in another federal political party. Can I also be a member of the Conservative Party of Canada?

No. A member of another federal political party cannot hold an active federal party membership in another political party AND be a Conservative Party of Canada member in good standing.
