Peter Van Loan
York – Simcoe
Peter obtained a Bachelors degree and two advanced degrees from the University of Toronto, before obtaining a law degree from Osgoode Hall. He was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1989. During the next 16 years, he rose to become Partner and Chair of the Planning and Development Law Group at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP. Peter is also an Adjunct Professor of Planning at the University of Toronto.
Long involved in politics, Peter served as President of both the Ontario and the Federal PC parties. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the new Conservative Party of Canada.
First elected to the House of Commons in 2004, Peter was re-elected in 2006. He was named Leader of the Government in the House of Commons and Minister for Democratic Reform.
Peter’s community involvement includes contributions to the Georgina Economic Development Committee and the Ontario Brownfields Advisory Panel.
