With extensive experience in both the private sector and public sector as a Chartered Accountant and with over 10 years experience as an elected School Trustee, Joyce brings a diverse background to represent the community of Winnipeg South Centre.
First elected as a School Trustee in 2001, Joyce has served many roles such as Chair of the Board, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Policy Committee. She has worked with parents from all 20 schools in her area to ensure their voices are heard.
Joyce has supported a number of key initiatives as a School Trustee, including the implementation of the Dufferin School Project to redevelop the community around the school, in partnership with the Winnipeg Foundation, as well as the state-of-the-art science lab at Niji Makwa School. She also had a hand in the creation of the community-based Aboriginal Teach Education Program in partnership with the University of Winnipeg.
Since being elected as a Parliamentarian, Joyce has served on the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Standing Committee on the Status of Women, the Standing Committee on Official Languages and the Standing Committee on Co-operatives.
Joyce knows the best way to achieve results is to work together for the greater community. She and her husband Darell have two teenage children.
