My mother gave birth to me in England during WWII, where both my parents were serving in the Canadian Army. Perhaps it was this early exposure to the world outside Canada which led me to be a foreign news correspondent!
Four decades in broadcast journalism has taken me all around the world. While exciting, it was challenging for my family. My wife Cilla and I had to move around a lot while we raised our daughter.
As a journalist, I’ve always tried to help folks understand their community and their world because engaged people are involved people. Through working with organizations like the YMCA, the Stephen Leacock Children’s Foundation and the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council, I’ve seen just how much dedicated people can accomplish.
Thornhill is a great community with a great future. I take pride in our community and want to work for you on issues like the Yonge Subway North initiative, as well as encourage new business and industry in our area. But we need a strong voice in Ottawa.
The Conservative Government has done a lot to strengthen the economy, increase our security and forge the way for a better environment. After reporting on four decades of Canadian governments, I am ready to be part of a strong Conservative team that keeps getting things done for you.
