A graduate of Acadia University, Gerald has enjoyed an extensive career as a farmer, a driller in Nova Scotia’s offshore oil industry, as well as a Christmas tree producer and exporter.
First elected to the House of Commons in 1997, Gerald has proudly represented the people of South Shore—St. Margaret’s in Ottawa ever since. He has held many portfolios, most recently appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade.
An avid reader and outdoorsmen, Gerald also enjoys canoeing, hunting and fishing.
Residing in New Ross, Nova Scotia, Gerald and his wife, Judy, have six children.
