Dr. Kellie Leitch is a paediatric orthopedic surgeon, an associate professor of surgery, and long-time Conservative Party activist. Since 2005 she has made her home in Clearview and has devoted her time to caring for children at clinics throughout central Ontario, including Simcoe County, and through her practice at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).

Earlier this year, Kellie was recognized with the Order of Ontario for her advocacy work on behalf of Canadian children and in 2005, she was selected as one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” for her work in both medicine and business.  One of her proudest moments was in 2009 when she was selected to carry the Olympic Torch in recognition of her dedication to children’s health initiatives.

Kellie is a tireless worker who is committed to public service and the betterment of children and the community. She has advised the federal Minister of Finance on the best ways to implement the Children’s Fitness Tax Credit, and she has authored a report for the federal Minister of Health entitled: “Reaching for the Top: A Report by the Advisor on Healthy Children & Youth.”  Earlier this year, Kellie travelled to Afghanistan to provide guidance to the Canadian International Development Agency in regards to Canada’s development work concerning health care.

In addition to her work as a surgeon and professor, Kellie also finds time to serve on various Councils and Boards, including the YMCA and Community Living. Kellie hosts an annual golf tournament in Simcoe County to raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in memory of her mother.

Kellie has strong family ties and was honoured to host her sister’s wedding at her home in Clearview in 2009. Family and friends are frequent guests to Kellie’s home and are welcomed not only with warm hospitality but also by the scenic beauty of our community.
