Kitchener – Waterloo
Peter Braid was elected Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Waterloo in October, 2008, and re-elected in May, 2011.
A native of Waterloo, Peter attended both the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto, and graduated from the latter in 1989 with a degree in International Relations. He has a diverse background in both government and the private sector, and has volunteered with numerous charities and community organizations.
In Ottawa, Peter serves on the Industry, Science and Technology Committee, and the Government Operations and Estimates Committee. In addition, he is a Vice-Chair of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association, and Co-Chair of the Canada-Scotland Friendship Group. He is also a member of the Canada-China Legislative Association, the Canada-Germany Interparliamentary Group, and the Canada-India Friendship Group.
As Member of Parliament, Peter envisions the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo as a dynamic, innovative and socially engaged community that strives to achieve its full potential through strong partnerships and collaboration.
Peter and his wife Annette have two daughters, Tamara and Alexandra.
