Eglinton – Lawrence
Joe Oliver began his Law and Business career by obtaining a BA and BCL from McGill University. While receiving his education, Joe worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the McGill University Law Journal, and was eventually called to the Québec Bar.
Fluently bilingual, Joe went on to graduate from the Harvard Graduate School of Business with an MBA and held several senior positions in the investment industry. These included terms on the boards of the Canadian Capital Markets Association and CSI Global Education, as well as serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada.
Most recently, Joe had a long run as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada from 1995 to 2007. He is also currently on the board of the Canadian Securities Institute Research Foundation.
Joe is dedicated to improving his community and the lives of those who live in it. Serving as Chair of the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada for 4 years, Joe is an active volunteer at Mount Sinai Hospital. There, he served on the board and several committees, and chaired the Audit Committee of the Foundation.
Joe Oliver is grateful for the chance to serve the constituents of Eglinton–Lawrence and be their voice in Ottawa.
