Member of Parliament
Rob graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Before being elected to public office, Rob worked for the National Citizens Coalition.
He was first elected to the House of Commons in 1997. As Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs he helped establish a Veterans Ombudsman. He is now Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Scrutiny of Regulations.
He’s a strong advocate for democracy and against repression, working to facilitate the 2004 visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Canada and to bring Canadian MPs together with Vietnamese religious leaders.
