Prior to entering federal politics, Larry ran a beef farming business and spent 13 years in Municipal politics representing the people of Georgian Bluffs and Grey County.
During his years in office, he served as Municipal Councillor, Reeve, Mayor and Warden. While occupying these positions, he chaired the local Highways Committee and the Finance and Personnel Committee.
First elected to the House of Commons in 2004, Mr. Miller has represented Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound ever since. He served as Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food from 2008-2012. Most recently, he was elected Chair of Transportation, Infrastructure and Communities.
Mr. Miller has a strong record of community involvement, including serving on the Niagara Escarpment Commission and helping organize the Twin County Feeder Finance Co-operative. He was also very active in the sports community as he coached minor and senior fastball teams for 15 years.
Larry and his wife, Darlene have three grown children, two grandchildren, and reside near the town of Wiarton, Ontario.
