Zero Tax on Gas

Whereas Canadians are paying about 20 per cent more for fuel than Americans, with prices near $1.78 per litre in Canada versus $1.50 in the United States;

Whereas Liberal taxes add roughly 25 cents per litre, including 10 cents in excise tax, 7 cents from the clean fuel standard, and 8 cents in GST;

Whereas these Liberal policies cost families up to $1,218 per year and drive up the price of groceries, housing, and transportation across the country;

Whereas the Liberal government continues to raise or rebrand carbon taxes, including increasing the industrial carbon tax toward $170 per tonne, despite rising affordability pressures.

Therefore, we the undersigned stand with Conservatives in calling on the Liberal government to eliminate all federal taxes on gasoline and diesel until the end of the year and permanently repeal the clean fuel standard tax to lower costs for Canadians.
