Stop the Supply of Fentanyl

Whereas more than 56,000 Canadians have lost their lives to opioid toxicity since 2016, with fentanyl responsible for the vast majority of those deaths;
 
Whereas fentanyl is a highly lethal synthetic opioid that continues to devastate families and communities across Canada;
 
Whereas organized criminal networks continue to traffic and produce fentanyl because the profits remain enormous and the consequences are too often treated as a cost of doing business;

Whereas recent overdose emergencies, including more than 300 overdoses in less than two weeks in Moncton, New Brunswick, demonstrate how quickly criminal networks can adapt and exploit gaps in enforcement, placing entire communities at risk;

Whereas young Canadians, including Emily Liu, a 14-year-old girl from Surrey, British Columbia, whose life was cut short by a fentanyl overdose, continue to fall victim to this deadly poison;

Whereas every life lost to fentanyl represents a preventable tragedy and a profound loss for families and communities across Canada;
 
Therefore, we, the undersigned, call on the Carney Liberals to support Conservative Bill C-289, the Stopping Supply to Save Lives Act, to stop the supply of fentanyl that continues to take lives across our country and ensure traffickers of addiction and death face serious consequences.
