Stop the Liberal Hunger Crisis

Whereas food prices in Canada have risen 7.3 percent over the last year, with grocery costs increasing at the fastest rate in the G7;

Whereas Canadians are paying 22.4 percent more for ground beef, 13.2 percent more for pork shoulder, 12.9 percent more for whole chickens, 37.4 percent more for coffee, and significantly more for restaurant and take-out meals;

Whereas food inflation is now rising more than twice as fast as when the Prime Minister first took office, despite promises that prices would stabilize;

Whereas Canada produces the majority of its food domestically, yet Liberal taxes and policies, including the industrial carbon tax, fuel standards tax, and food packaging tax, are driving up the cost of producing and transporting food and passing those costs onto families;

Whereas the failure to address rising food costs has contributed to a doubling of food bank usage and placed unprecedented pressure on Canadian families.

Therefore, we the undersigned join with Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives in calling on the Liberal government to immediately reverse taxes and policies that increase the cost of food, introduce a Food Affordability Plan to boost competition in the grocery sector, and restore affordable food for Canadians.
