Stop Blocking Pipelines
Whereas Section 92.10(a) of the Constitution grants the federal government exclusive authority over interprovincial pipelines.
Whereas courts and the federal Major Projects Office have confirmed that provinces have no veto over such projects.
Whereas recent federal statements suggesting that pipeline approval depends on provincial agreement contradict constitutional law.
Whereas most British Columbians and Canadians support Alberta’s proposed pipeline as a source of jobs and economic growth.
Whereas national prosperity and unity require timely approval of projects that deliver Canadian resources to market.
Therefore, we the undersigned stand with Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives in demanding that Mark Carney use his constitutional authority to approve national pipelines.
