Give Canadian Kids Their Jobs

Whereas Canadian youth are facing worsening job prospects and declining access to fair wages and entry-level opportunities;

Whereas recent findings have revealed serious fraud and mismanagement within foreign student work permit programs, including nearly 150,000 suspected fraudulent cases;

Whereas millions of individuals in Canada hold expired or expiring visas while hundreds of thousands of new work permits continue to be issued without sufficient oversight or enforcement;

Whereas government reports indicate that high levels of foreign student work permits are limiting job opportunities for Canadian youth seeking to gain essential early work experience;

Whereas current policies lack adequate accountability, enforcement capacity, and a clear plan to prioritize employment opportunities for Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Therefore, we the undersigned call on the Liberal government to restore accountability to the immigration system, reduce reliance on temporary foreign labour programs, and implement policies that prioritize labour mobility, job opportunities, skills training, and economic advancement for Canadian youth.
