Law Abiding Canadians: Stop the Liberal’s New Gun Grab

- Whereas the Liberals’ massively expensive gun confiscation program is a masterclass in total chaos and mismanagement, an unserious program by an unserious government that is designed to fail;
- Whereas while the Liberals waste nearly $750 million to take firearms away from law-abiding licensed and tested firearms-owners, gun crime at the hands of repeat violent offenders continues to grow;
- Whereas the Liberals let gun crime explode by 130% by failing to stop illegally smuggled guns used in most gun crimes from coming across the border, taking away mandatory jail time for violent gun crimes in Bill C-5, allowing over 17,000 known criminals to enter through their broken immigration system, and bringing in Liberal bail that puts repeat violent offenders back on our streets under the least onerous conditions with Bill C-75;
- Whereas the pilot gun grab in Cape Breton Island collected only 25 guns at a cost of $150,000, and police forces including York Regional Police, Toronto Police, and OPP, plus premiers from Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador, have rejected the failed program;
- Whereas the Minister of Public Safety admitted the Liberals will waste $742 million on this out-of-touch gun grab;
- Whereas only a third of the $742 million will go to reimburse firearms owners, with the rest going to bureaucracy or waste;
- Whereas Canadians deserve to feel safe in their communities again after a decade of out-of-control crime and soft Liberal policies;
Therefore, we call on the Liberals to immediately end their failed gun confiscation program and support Conservative common sense firearms policies that protect law-abiding gunowners, keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals, keep repeat violent offenders in jail, and keep Canadians safe, by repealing easy bail and restoring mandatory jail for violent gun crimes, securing ports and borders against illegal firearms, and deporting non-citizens who commit crimes.
