Petition to Fire Gary

WHEREAS for ten years the Liberals’ soft-on-crime, bail-not-jail laws have made Canadians feel unsafe in their own neighbourhoods, while violent crime rose 55%, gun crime 130%, and extortion 330%;

WHEREAS instead of ending these bad laws, Mark Carney’s Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree is pushing a gun buyback plan he says is a waste of money and will not make us safer;

WHEREAS leaked recordings show Minister Anandasangaree saying the buyback is just for votes, that Mark Carney forced him to do it—putting politics and votes ahead of Canadians’ safety;

WHEREAS the Liberals are going after honest, trained, and licensed gun owners, including Indigenous hunters, instead of stopping illegal guns coming over the border;

WHEREAS the buyback will cost at least $742 million—money that could pay for 5,000 RCMP officers, 300 border scanners, or 37,000 addiction treatment beds;

WHEREAS Minister Gary Anandasangaree has also lost track of almost 600 non-citizen criminals, refused to ban violent gangs, and broken his promise to hire 1,000 new RCMP and 1,000 CBSA officers;

THEREFORE; we call on Mark Carney to stop the wasteful gun buyback, use the money for police, border security, and addiction treatment. Carney must own up to his terrible judgment, hold his Minister accountable and fire Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree now!
