Emergency Debate on Christian Persecution in Nigeria
Whereas since 2009, the insurgency led by Boko Haram and related groups has devastated Christian communities, driving millions from their homes, taking countless lives, destroying villages, and inflicting targeted violence intended to eradicate communities of faith;
Whereas groups such as Boko Haram, Fulani militias, and ISWAP continue coordinated attacks that constitute a deliberate campaign against people because of their Christian faith, violating fundamental human rights and human dignity;
Whereas Canada has a responsibility to stand with the persecuted, speak against atrocities, defend freedom of worship, conscience, and association, and press the international community to respond.
Therefore, we the undersigned stand with Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives in calling for an emergency debate in the House of Commons to address these grave human rights abuses and ensure Canada raises its voice on behalf of the victims.
