Petition to the House of Commons
We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, draw the attention of the House of Commons to the following:
Whereas in-person citizenship ceremonies are an important milestone to past, present, and future immigrants and refugees to Canada.
Whereas citizenship ceremonies are a treasured Canadian heritage and an opportunity for individuals and families from across the world to celebrate the privileges of Canadian citizenship together.
Whereas a “clickable” citizenship oath cheapens the process of becoming a Canadian citizen.
Therefore, we, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to reject the Liberal Government’s clickable citizenship oath and maintain in-person, participatory citizenship ceremonies.
