Axe The Sales Tax on Homes

Whereas after 9 years under Justin Trudeau and this NDP-Liberal government, housing costs have doubled.

Whereas Canada’s housing prices have risen faster than any other country in the G7 since Justin Trudeau took office.

Whereas the month before Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister, it took only 39% of the median pre-tax household income to cover home ownership costs, and today, it takes nearly 60 percent.

Whereas 80% of Canadians tell pollsters that homeownership is only for the very rich, and there are 1,400 homeless encampments in Ontario alone.

And whereas in Ontario and British Columbia, government charges account for more than 30% of the cost of a new home, and the federal government takes the biggest share, with 39 percent of total taxes on a new home going to politicians and bureaucrats in Ottawa.

Therefore be it resolved that we the undersigned support Pierre Poilievre’s common sense Conservative plan to axe the sales tax on new homes under $1 million to save new homebuyers up to $50,000 and spark the construction of 30,000 extra homes each year.
