Protect Cash, Ban Central Bank Digital Currency

Whereas cash is private, reliable, and works when digital systems fail;

Whereas millions of Canadians rely on cash to pay for everyday essentials;

Whereas recent outages have shown that digital-only systems can leave Canadians unable to access their own money;

Whereas a central bank digital currency could allow government to monitor transactions and restrict how Canadians use their own money;

Whereas Canadians should always have the freedom to choose how they pay;

Therefore, we the undersigned call on the Government of Canada to protect access to cash and reject any move toward a government-controlled digital currency.
