Investigate Champagne’s Conflicts

Whereas Liberal Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne is in charge of the federal budget;

Whereas the Alto project could cost up to $90 billion, with significant public funds spent and no completed track to date;

Whereas reports indicate that a senior Alto executive is in a personal relationship with Minister Champagne that has not been disclosed as required;

Whereas Minister Champagne has participated in decisions and votes related to the project despite claiming recusal.

Therefore, we the undersigned, call on the Liberals to support a Conservative committee motion to study the apparent conflicts of interest between Prime Minister Carney’s finance minister, François-Philippe Champagne, and the Alto high-speed rail project, and to require testimony from the minister, the Conflict of Interest Commissioner, and Alto executives, including the CEO.
