Ban Drug Consumption Sites Near Children
Whereas supervised drug consumption and injection sites are currently permitted to operate near schools, daycares and playgrounds, raising safety concerns for children and communities.
Whereas communities and law enforcement have reported negative impacts, including unsafe conditions and calls to relocate such sites away from areas where children gather.
Whereas evidence suggests that closing these sites does not increase harm and may improve access to addiction treatment.
Whereas Conservative Bill C-272 proposes to amend the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act to ban these sites within 500 metres of schools, daycares and playgrounds.
Therefore, we the undersigned stand with Conservatives in calling on the Liberal government to supportĀ Bill C-272 to ban supervised drug consumption and injection sites from operating within 500 metres of schools, daycares and playgrounds.
