Protect Auto Workers in Canada
Whereas Prime Minister Mark Carney broke his promise to “put elbows up,” “negotiate a win,” and secure a deal with the U.S. by July 21, 2025;
Whereas since his October 7 meeting at the White House, Carney returned home with higher U.S. tariffs on Canadian lumber, and permanent tariffs on finished autos;
Whereas Carney’s weakness abroad is costing Canadian jobs at home, with automakers like Stellantis, GM, and others investing billions in U.S. plants while Canadian workers are laid off by the thousands;
Whereas more than 500 workers at GM Oshawa, 1000 at CAMI Ingersoll, 3000 at Stellantis and 300 at PACCAR have already lost their jobs, and more than $10 billion in taxpayer subsidies were promised to Stellantis without securing guarantees to protect Canadian jobs;
Therefore, we the undersigned call on Prime Minister Carney to keep his word, not leave any Canadians behind, and deliver a win for auto workers.
