Acclaimed as the Conservative Party of Canada’s (CPC) candidate for the Yukon in September 2018, Jonas J. Smith has been a resident of Whitehorse since 1999.
Smith is the third generation in his family to call the territory home and he and his wife Erika are currently raising the fourth, their two beautiful daughters.
He is the current Executive Director of the Klondike Placer Miners’ Association (KPMA) and works for the Yukon Producers’ Group advocating for responsible resource development and resulting benefits for all Yukoners.
Smith also served the former Yukon Premier as Deputy Chief of Staff and President of the Yukon Party, and represented Yukon on the CPC’s National Council. Prior, he spent many years in the Yukon’s hospitality industry and arts sector, and was previously known for his time as a punk rock and heavy metal musician.
“I hope to represent Yukoners through the party’s values and policies that best reflect my own; including sound fiscal management, small government, personal freedoms and accountability and self-determination.”
