Kevin Sorenson

The Hon. Kevin Sorenson, M.P., was first elected to the House of Commons in 2000 as the Member of Parliament for the federal riding of Crowfoot. The riding is now named Battle River – Crowfoot.

He has served previously as the Official Opposition’s Senior Solicitor General Critic, the Associate Critic for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Deputy Critic for Justice. He has been a member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights Committee, and served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. He was appointed to the Cabinet on July 15, 2013 as Minister of State (Finance) and became a Member of the Queen’s Privy Council. He currently serves as Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

Born on November 3, 1958 and raised in Killam, Alberta, Kevin, his wife Darlene still reside on a farm within a few miles of the Sorenson family farm.

Prior to first being elected, Kevin owned and operated his family farm and a small auction company.
