OTTAWA – Leader of the Official Opposition and interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada the Hon. Rona Ambrose made the following statement today in response to the terrorist bombing at a park in Lahore, Pakistan:
“As Leader of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, I condemn in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack which took place in Lahore, Pakistan on this Easter Sunday. The intent of the attackers was clear and it was deliberate: to kill Christians on their Holy Day. This is yet further evidence of the threat faced by religious minorities around the world today.
“We stand with the victims of this horrific attack and with those who believe in freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law. We must continue our efforts to root out those who seek to undermine our freedoms and threaten our peace and security, wherever they may be. We must also continue working with our allies to confront this threat. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those in Pakistan whose lives have been shattered by this despicable act of terror.”
