Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Official Opposition and Interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, issued a statement on National Public Service Week taking place from June 12 to 18: “Today marks the beginning of National Public Service Week, a chance to thank public servants across Canada for the hard work they do day-in and day-out to keep Canada the best country in the world. “Public servants provide so much of the unseen infrastructure that supports our daily lives in Canada. Whether representing Canada abroad, or ensuring public services are delivered in a timely, professional manner to those in our society who need them most, Canadians can count on the public service to be there for them. “Canada is fortunate to have a public service that is committed to providing an equal level of service to all citizens. We may not always see the many hours they put in, but they are there every day, doing the work that keeps our borders secure, our families healthy and cared for, and even providing the first critical response when disaster strikes, such as the recent Fort McMurray fires. “I hope all Canadians take a moment this week to recognize that commitment and the role of Canada’s public service in keeping our nation strong and free.”
