Liberals oppose Conservative bill to ban export of non-recyclable plastic waste
February 3, 2021
Ottawa, ON – Today, Scot Davidson, Conservative Member of Parliament for York Simcoe, released the following statement:
“Today, Liberal members voted against Conservative Bill C-204, which bans the export of non-recyclable plastic waste to foreign countries.
“Canada must show leadership – we have the means to properly dispose of plastic waste here in Canada. We should not be exporting it for other countries to deal with.
“Plastic pollution should not be a partisan issue, yet the Liberals would rather play politics than support common-sense Conservative measures to protect the environment.
“Despite the Liberals’ attempt to kill this important initiative, Conservative Bill C-204 passed at second reading. Conservatives will continue to fight to protect our environment and secure our future.”
