Liberals Must Tackle Canada’s Addictions Crisis: Gladu
May 15, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OTTAWA, ON – Marilyn Gladu, Shadow Minister for Health, released the following statement regarding the Minister of Health’s press conference yesterday on the opioid crisis:
“It is clear that Canada has a national addictions crisis that requires a comprehensive and coordinated response from the federal government.
“This addictions crisis is leading to more and more opioid overdoses, taking the lives of loved ones, friends, and family. Methamphetamine addictions are rampant across Canada and it is clear we must do better than the status quo.
“Conservatives believe that, given the opportunity and appropriate supports, Canadians who suffer from addiction have the ability to recover. That is why we must prioritize the recovery of addicts instead of focusing solely on Band-Aid solutions.
“Unfortunately, Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has failed to provide leadership on addictions in Canada. It is time for Justin Trudeau to deliver a comprehensive, recovery-oriented plan to tackle Canada’s addictions crisis.”
