Liberals’ infrastructure plan has been all talk, no action: Jeneroux
May 8, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OTTAWA, ON – Matt Jeneroux, Conservative Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Communities and Urban Affairs, released the following statement regarding the Minister of Infrastructure’s update on the federal government’s Investing in Canada Plan:
“The Liberals’ infrastructure plan has been not as advertised. During the 2015 election campaign, the Prime Minister promised Canadians he would run modest deficits in order to invest in infrastructure. In reality, the Liberals are running massive deficits but infrastructure projects are not getting built.
“The Parliamentary Budget Officer has found that the government’s touted economic benefits – a growing GDP and more jobs – haven’t materialized. Instead, the Liberals have delayed the much-needed construction of new roads, bridges and community spaces.
“I’ve been meeting with mayors from across the country and I keep hearing the money they need for crucial infrastructure is stuck in Ottawa. The citizens of their communities are paying for Justin Trudeau’s mistakes.
“Canadians deserve a government that will work with municipalities and ensure the infrastructure projects they need are delivered on time and on budget. The Liberal infrastructure plan is another example of how the Trudeau government is all talk and no action.”
