Justin Trudeau must come clean on fighter jets: Conservatives
November 18, 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – The Honourable Rob Nicholson, Shadow Minister for Procurement, and James Bezan, Shadow Minister for National Defence, issued a statement following media reports that the Trudeau government has produced no documents to support the claim that there is a fighter jet capability gap in Canada.
“Canada’s Conservatives have repeatedly stated that the so-called capability gap touted by the Trudeau government has no basis in reality. This has now been further confirmed by the fact that the Trudeau Liberals failed to produce any documents to back up this claim.
“By politicizing the process to replace Canada’s current fighter jet planes, Justin Trudeau is wasting hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, and delaying the process to re-equip our military.
“Justin Trudeau needs to come clean with Canadians and admit that his failed decision to proceed with a sole-sourced interim purchase of used jets will cost taxpayers billions of dollars. The Liberals’ capability gap is simply a political cover for Justin Trudeau’s naive campaign promise, and the men and women in the Canadian Armed Forces deserve much better.”
