FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – Pierre Paul-Hus, Shadow Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, issued the following statement regarding Justin Trudeau’s changes to Correctional Services Canada’s prison transfer policies:
“With this case and several others, a pattern has emerged from Justin Trudeau on matters of conscience where he consistently fails to demonstrate the courage and leadership demanded of him by Canadians.
“Instead of taking decisive action when a dangerous child killer was transferred to a healing lodge, Trudeau’s Liberals deflected, dodged, and hid behind their officials and bureaucratic processes until they were humiliated into doing the right thing. This is no way to lead.
“If Justin Trudeau had done the right thing from the start, McClintic’s victims and all Canadians could have been spared from this drawn out and sometimes-painful debate. Instead, Trudeau once again demonstrated his tendency to put the interests of violent criminals ahead of those of innocent victims.
“Canada’s Conservatives also call on Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale to stop dodging and finally answer the simple question if McClintic herself will be put behind bars where she belongs.”
