Ottawa, ON – Conservative and NDP members of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights have called for an emergency meeting to discuss inviting former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould to testify.

MPs Michael Cooper, Michael Barrett, Dave MacKenzie, and Murray Rankin each sent a letter to the Clerk of the Justice Committee this afternoon requesting further study on the SNC-Lavalin Affair.

The letters will trigger an emergency meeting within the next five days. At this meeting, MPs on the committee will consider calling Ms. Wilson-Raybould to testify.

“Former Attorney General Jody Wilson-Raybould provided clear and convincing testimony based on contemporaneous notes that there was sustained, inappropriate and unethical political pressure,” the letter reads. “Mr. Gerald Butts and Mr. Michael Wernick provided testimony that, while lacking the credibility of Ms. Wilson-Raybould, was in parts contradictory. Canadians deserve to hear the full truth so that they can decide the level of corruption in this government.”
