Andrew Scheer Issues Statement on By-Election Results
February 25, 2019
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – The Honourable Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives, released the following statement regarding the by-election results:
“On behalf of the entire Conservative caucus, I would like to thank and congratulate our three fantastic Conservative candidates and their teams.
“Yesterday’s results are proof once again that our positive Conservative vision is resonating with Canadians across the country. Conservatives have increased our vote share in 14 byelections since 2015, including last night in York-Simcoe. Also in York-Simcoe, the Liberals lost nearly a quarter of their vote share from 2015. Clearly, Canadians are tired of paying for Justin Trudeau’s mistakes.
“Over the last three years, and especially over the past month, Canadians have come to realize that Justin Trudeau’s Liberals do not deserve to be re-elected in October. From breaking his promise to balance the budget, to his government’s parade to the Ethics Commissioner’s office, and serious allegations of interference in a criminal prosecution, Canadians are seeing that Justin Trudeau and his Liberals believe the rule of law doesn’t apply to them.
“I am confident that Scot Davidson will be a strong voice in Ottawa for residents of York-Simcoe and I look forward to having him in Ottawa to help hold the Liberals to account.
“I’d also like to congratulate Jay Shin, in Burnaby South, and Jasmine Louras, in Outremont, who proved that the Conservatives are a force to be reckoned with in ridings across the country. I look forward to continuing to work with Conservatives from coast to coast to spread our positive vision for Canada.”
