The Honourable Steven Blaney

Minister of Veterans Affairs

Steven was born in Sherbrooke on April 8, 1965. He grew up in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce and has lived in Lévis for over 15 years. Steven is married to Marie Bouchard and has two wonderful children, William-Antoine and Alexandra.

With a background in engineering, Steven also completed a MBA in Lévis. Over the course of my career, he has worked in the environmental engineering and urban infrastructure fields, and also as a technical consultant for the Department of Indian and Northern Development.

As a long-time participant in municipal and provincial politics, Steven was elected to the House of Commons in 2006. Soon after his election, he was appointed Vice-Chair of the Quebec caucus of the Conservative Party. He later sat on several parliamentary committees. In May 2007 he was appointed Chair of the Standing Committee on Official Languages. In October 2008 he became Chair of the Quebec caucus of Conservative Party MPs.

Steven has always been deeply involved in his community, especially in various environmental protection organizations. He represents a diverse and dynamic riding, and is devoted and passionate when it comes to serving the people of Lévis, Bellechasse and Étchemins. Steven is proud to belong to a political party that takes action for Quebecers and holds out concrete solutions to our region’s families and businesses.
