Protecting Canadians from Foreign Criminals
September 24, 2012
On Monday, Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, urged members of the New Democratic Party and Liberal Party to support the Faster Removal of Foreign Criminals Act.
This legislation will speed up the process by which foreign criminals can be removed from Canada, as well as making it more difficult for foreign criminals to enter Canada in the first place. To ensure this doesn’t affect tourism and immigration, it will also remove barriers for genuine visitors.
Our Government campaigned on a promise to expedite the removal of foreign criminals from Canada. While Canadians are famous for their generosity and hospitality, there is no tolerance for criminals and fraudsters who come to this country with the intention of abusing that good nature.
That’s why Minister Kenney is urging the Opposition to vote for the Faster Removal of Foreign Criminals Act and stand against those who rely on a system of endless appeals to stall their removal from this country.
Our Conservative Government is working hard to keep our streets and communities safe.
