Harper Government Delivering on Community Safety
December 05, 2011

On Monday, Rob Nicholson, Minister of Justice, and Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice, expressed support for Bill C-10, the Safe Streets and Communities Act, in anticipation of third reading in the House of Commons.  MPs from every party were encouraged to vote in favour of the Bill.

Canadians gave Stephen Harper’s Conservative Government a strong mandate to work to help keep our communities safe.

Through the Safe Streets and Communities Act, we are one step closer to cracking down on child sexual offenders and on dangerous drug dealers who sell drugs to children.

Our Government promised to pass this important legislation within the first 100 sitting days of Parliament, and we intend to deliver.

Canadians want and deserve to feel safe in their homes and communities.

The Harper Government is committed to ensuring criminals are held fully responsible for their actions, and that the safety and security of law-abiding Canadians and victims comes first.
