Focused on the Priorities of Canadians
July 02, 2013
On Tuesday, Jason Kenney, Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism announced that Canada’s new and more secure 10-year ePassport is available to Canadians.
ePassports are the international norm for travel documents because their use of advanced technology helps safeguard them against fraud and identity theft.
Canada’s new 10 year ePassports will help make travel more reliable and convenient for Canadians and will help create jobs and growth here at home. Indeed, the new ePassport is also a better value for Canadians, as it will cost less per year than the old 5-year passport and will need to be renewed less often.
The new ePassport will be illustrated with iconic Canadian images that celebrate our unique history and culture, including:
- Robert Harris’s painting of the Fathers of Confederation
- A depiction of the last spike completing the Canadian Pacific Railway
- A picture of Pier 21 in Halifax – a National Historic Site and one of the most significant ports of entry for newly-arrived immigrants between 1928 and 1971.
Our Conservative Government is delivering real results for Canadian families.
