Cutting Red Tape

October 01, 2012

On Monday, Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, released the Harper Government’s Red Tape Reduction Plan. This plan will help businesses attract investment and create jobs by cutting red tape.

To promote this exciting news, Gail Shea, Minister of National Revenue, Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, and Maxime Bernier, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism are speaking to Canadians about this plan at events they are holding across the country.

This Action Plan introduces six ambitious changes that will reduce the administrative burden on hardworking Canadians and their businesses. These changes will make it easier to do business in Canada by improving service and predictability and by making the regulatory process as pain-free as possible.

The Red Tape Reduction Plan stands as one of the most impressive regulatory modernization plans in the world. Actions such as these underscore our Government’s commitment to keeping Canada the most transparent and predictable place in the world for investment.

Ensuring that regulation in Canada is efficient and effective is a cornerstone of our Government’s plan to help the Canadian economy continue to grow and attract investment.

Our Government’s actions stand in stark contrast to the plans of Mr. Mulcair and the NDP. While we help free up businesses so that they can create jobs and growth, they continue to promote their $21 billion carbon tax which would increase the costs of electricity, gas, groceries and everything else.

Canadians can rest assured that our Government is focused on helping the economy attract more jobs and growth.
