Conservatives Urge Minister McCallum to Keep Roosh V Out of Canada
February 3, 2016
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Today, Michelle Rempel, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship critic, called upon the government to keep Canadian women safe and use ministerial discretion, such as the Negative Discretion Authority, to deny Daryush Valizadeh entry into Canada. “His message is completely counter to Canadian values of gender equality and support for women’s rights.”
The Conservative Party has a strong record of standing up for victims and keeping Canadians safe. That’s why in 2014, then Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander used ministerial discretion to keep controversial “pick-up artist” Julien Blanc out of Canada. Blanc had planned to host events to spread his violent ideologies.
Now, Canada faces a similar threat. There are reports that Daryush Valizadeh, also known as “Roosh V” may be travelling to Canada to spread misogynistic ideology through organized rallies.
“We hope that the Minister takes strong and immediate action to show Canadians that misogyny has no place in Canada”, said Rempel.
