| Conservatives working for Canadians’ safety
January 29, 2010
On Friday, our Conservative Government welcomed news of the appointment of five new Canadians to the Senate – individuals who are committed to our agenda on tackling crime. These appointments are an important step forward in respecting the will of the democratically-elected House of Commons, as well as in implementing our Government’s agenda. Since first elected in 2006, our Conservative Government has taken action for the safety of Canadians and their families. The record shows that under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Conservative Government is serious about getting tough on crime. The record also shows that Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals are soft on crime. When the cameras are on, they say they support our law-and-order bills. But behind closed doors, Michael Ignatieff has allowed his Liberal Senators to obstruct, delay, and gut some of our most important measures to keep Canadians safe. The Ignatieff Liberals keep proving that when it comes to the safety of Canadians, they would rather play political games. They have abused their majority in the Senate by obstructing law-and-order bills that are urgently needed and strongly supported by Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Our Conservative Government is in it for Canadians, and is prepared to do what it takes to keep families safer. Michael Ignatieff however, is not in it for Canadians. He’s just in it for himself. |
