I grew up in the close-knit community of Springside, Saskatchewan, surrounded by friends and relatives who helped shape the strong conservative values that have guided me my whole life.
After obtaining my teaching degree from the University of Saskatchewan, I taught school for 24 years. I also farmed for seven years which helped to shape my appreciation for the hard work our farmers do to feed the country and the world. My annual Agricultural Forum in Yorkton, which features national and international experts and legislators, is a great place for farmers to exchange information and expertise.
It has been an honour to serve as Yorkton-Melville’s MP since 1997. I strive daily to improve law and order issues and I believe that the Youth Criminal Justice Act needs serious reform. I am proud to have helped create our parliament’s Outdoor Caucus, which acts to entrench Canadians’ right to practice and enjoy their traditional outdoor heritage.
I have also been a national leader in the fight against the failed Liberal long-gun registry which continues to be a slap in the face to law-abiding farmers and hunters throughout Canada.
I believe my most important duty as MP is to represent the people of Yorkton-Melville on issues that matter most to them and I’m running for reelection with Stephen Harper and the Conservatives because I want to ensure that the voice of my constituents continues to be heard in Ottawa.
